Have you ever worked 12 hours and had to sell at any point during this time?
If you have, you know how important your health is to endurance, mood, and overall well-being.
I can’t tell you how many times I have heard from people “oh, I will sleep when I’m dead” – yeah, you will be dead because you don’t sleep. The most important thing to remember is to listen to your body – if you are tired, hungry, or thirsty – fix the problem.
Just keep in mind that when you are hungry, you are probably not looking for a burger and fries with a shake… even if that is what you are craving. Sometimes when we crave carbs it is our body telling us we need more sleep or the proper nutrients.
I have personally noticed that I am significantly more efficient, have a sharper mind, and I am far more ambitious in the years since I have been aware of my health and eating habits.
Now, I am not saying that everyone has to be gluten free and never eat oils and nitrates again; however, the basics are a good start.
- Get enough sleep for you – go to bed early enough that you wake energized, not groggy or over-slept.
- Eat more protein than carbohydrates (by far).
- Be active – you don’t have to work out for two hours a day – just take the dog for a little longer of a walk every day or take the stairs instead of the elevator.
- Lots of antioxidants – give your body the fighting chance it needs every day. So, yes, eat that dark chocolate!
